Root Canal Treatment

Your guide to understanding the Root Canal procedure:

Root canal treatment is a type of endodontic dental treatment required when the center part within the tooth, known as the pulp, housing the blood vessels, nerves and connecting tissues gets infected or becomes inflamed. Root canal treatment is done to save the infected tooth. The most common causes of tooth damage or infection are cavities left untreated or sudden force to a tooth which results in the tooth cracking.

Rotary Endodontic Technology is used to access the pulp chamber in the tooth. Rotary Endodontics comprise of instruments made of a nickel – steel alloy and they are more efficient. A dentist uses this technology to remove the infected and dead tissues from the canals. Once the tissues are removed, the canals are then disinfected. The canals are then shaped with instruments so that they can be filled with root canal fillings known as gutta – percha and sealed. A temporary material is then placed above the fillings till the crown is placed on the tooth.
