The aligners need to stay on your teeth to work but one of the most attractive features of aligners is that they are removable. Unlike traditional wire-and-bracket type of braces, you can remove your aligner during meal times for eating, brushing and flossing. That means you won’t have to avoid certain types of food or clean with caution for fear of loosening or damaging the braces. However, for optimum results, you will need to keep your aligners on for 22 hours or more per day. Failing to wear the mouth-guard-like contraption for a minimum of 20 hours a day may be counterproductive to the treatment. Aligner wearers should be mindful of this during extended meal hours. Also you will need to clean your teeth after every meal Let’s just say a travel toothbrush will become indispensible. You will need to maintain proper oral hygiene to reduce the risk of infections or decay throughout the treatment period. With Aligner Treatment you should also set realistic expectations.Just because it is a modern way of straightening the teeth it does not diminish the fact that teeth straightening takes time. Although the average treatment times for aligners are shorter as compared to traditional orthodontic treatment, you will still need to set realistic expectations Aligner treatment is not for everyone. It can treat most of the common orthodontic problems such as crowded teeth, overbites/ underbites or gaps. However, removable brace systems like aligners have certain limitations and are not considered the best solution for handling complex orthodontic cases such as severe deep overbites or severely rotated teeth. Treatment : Begins with taking x-ray, photographs, a bite registration, and polyvinyl siloxane impressions of the person’s teeth and gums. Our orthodontist completes a written evaluation that includes diagnosis and treatment plan.Dental impressions are scanned in order to create a digital 3D representation of the slingers. Nowadays direct digital impressions with the help of digital scanners are also available. The aligners are modeled using CAD-CAM (computer-aided-design and computer-aided-manufacturing) software and manufactured using a rapid prototyping technique called stereolithography. The moulds for the aligners are built in layers using a photo-sensitive liquid resin that cures into a hard plastic when exposed to a laser. The aligners are made from an elastic thermoplastic material that applies pressure to the teeth to move into the aligner’s position.Patients that need some complex movements can have precision attachments bonded onto certain teeth. More attachments can make the aligners less aesthetically pleasing.Usually aligners are intended to be worn an optimal21- 22 hours a day for 10 days to 2 weeks. Treatment time varies based on the complexity of the planned teeth movements. The aligner is removed for brushing, flossing and eating. Once the treatment period has concluded, the patient is advised to continue wearing a retainer at night for the foreseeable future. Products Available in Clear Aligner Therapy :
